INSTENSE JAZZ/NOISE

Image
watched beautiful boy yesterday and it was great. had some good songs in; territorial pissings by nirvana and this jazz instrumental, which I now know is called Bridge by Amon Tobin, when Nic was in the car at night. then i thought wait i should listen to more jazz bc i actually like it and i now think i like intense jazz but im not keen when theres loads of trumpets n shit. i like drums keys and bass i think!! I just wanted to find more intense jazz instrumentals or maybe some intense jazz with poetry/beat poetry like whats in this video: I dont think theres any intense jazz with charles bukowski on spotify unfortunately as I think that would sound rlly cool blasting in the car at night. also have this thing/thought often in my head of driving into a ditch and i think thats bc ive read too much sylvia plath. also cars ? always crashing in the same car by bowie.... iconic. right now im listening to nevermind by nirvana its coooool. anyway, i managed to find some cool shit online...

books from library

I decided that one of the main things I wanted to do this summer was get more into physical art and painting again after, what was possibly, a year long (or maybe even longer) hiatus.  Other than sketches and a few good painting pieces, I felt like i hadn't really ever developed my style and felt lost in terms of what I wanted to paint and how I wanted to do it, so I knew I needed to find inspiration and look into other works.  Digging through the depths of artists online was difficult, as I found I was redirected to the same few famous artists and I couldn't really find anything visually I liked this way, so I decided to go down the traditional route and go to the library. This way I could find a good base and maybe then go on to research deeper and find other crevices online. There wasn't tons of art books at my local library, but I did manage to find some good books. ____________________________________________________ BOOK ONE I picked up this book as I ...

THE SPLIT SCREEN

Image
thinkin about chelsea girls and why andy warhol chose to use a split screen. I havent seen the movie yet, but i think its online. Found this interesting video - TRIPTYCH PHOTOS FROM THE RENAISSANCE. 3 painted panels that are hinged together and can be folded shut/opened brian de palma "its a kind of meditative form. You can go very slowly with it, because there's a lot to look at" reminds me of that Greta Gerwig interview i watched about long shots and how they include more/say more. ALICE COOPER PHOTO!

Image
2am on a friday night and what am i doing with my time? watching david bowie interviews on youtube.... there was a mention of america and not being able to accept the glam of the early 70s and how even alice cooper ended up having to tone down the drag. and then i thought??? ???? I didnt kniw alice cooper did draG??? (turns out it just meant wearing tights/womens items/make up and not the Drag we know today) but when i googled him on google images this really cool photo came up and idk who its by but I loved it. The juxtaposition interested me, i love how the photo is generally gothic and horrific in some way but then a gentle flower blooms near the centre.. and also the lighting and colour tone is very soft and gentle. I think its interesting how in some way, in my opinion, it suggests the theme of identity and layers and how people present themselves on the outside and personality, etc. if that makes sense? ????????????????

how to lengthen your life

Image
INTERESTING. Time & pace. childhood - first 10yrs feel longer. has to do with novelty. more new unpredictable challenging experiences, the longer they will feel. more same days the faster it will pass by. childhood feels long bc its the cauldron of novelty. we must become explorers, find novelty. we have grown bored of a world we havent begun to study properly. The pioneers of making life feel longer in the way that counts are not dietitians, but artists.rintroduces us to ordinary things. Cezanne looked closely at apples as if he had never seen one before. Savouring time, appreciating. Live more deliberately.  walk in an unfamiliar part of town, ask an old friend about a side of their life, lie in the grden and look at the stars.
