i watched this video

and i found the first two things super interesting and iNsPiRiNg
1. "Water and Oil" by Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia.
    August 2010 Vogue Italia featured 24 pages.
    Images are disturbing
    Very Grotesque and Posed/'Over the Top', made me think of images in my head genderbentetc.
    With things like dresses resembling fishnets draws mind back to the ocean. Uses poses and fashion to allude to the oil spill.

2. "Le Smoking" by Helmut Newton for French Vogue
    known for taking photos of women in the nude without making them raunchy.
    1975.
    'the smoking suit' designed by Yves Saint Laurent for his autumn/winter 1966 collection
    famous suit worn by famous women - Catherine Deneuve, Liza Minnelli.
    controversial for its masculine and lack of frills
    This photo made it more controversial and more exciting - shot model using street lamps, androgynous. also put nude woman (black stiletto) next to the model. Doesnt look raunchy.

I couldn't stop thinking about a painting technique, about the use of over-painting and seeing underneath,  that I remembered reading in a Basquiat book I have, however I couldn't remember what it was called. decided to look for the author of this quote and found it was Ben Vautier He was born on the 18th July 1935, known as Ben. He discovered Yves Klein and the Nouveau Realisme in the 50s Joined the Fluxus art movemement. Active in mail art started text based paintings known as ' é critures' In 1981 he came up with the term 'Figuration Libre' for the French art movement during the 80s. Yves Klein - nouveau realisme, performance art, pop art, minimal art.
