Twitter Poems

Image
Twitter poems website that generates poems from tweets. (a sonnet, rondel, or indriso) thought could maybe get good lines that maybe could make something with and use the cut up method that was popularised by william burroughs. Typed up interesting lines/phrases with type writer. Also tried again to see if anything new came up - most lines were the same but still got some interesting words  This bit that I typed randomly together seemed cool so took a photo before separating lines. I thought about adding 'our brand' down the side of a stanza, however changed this. final poem i decided upon. Then did another, but fully random where I put what I picked up. ALSO found these I did a yr ish ago and i scanned them and sorted them into this order: ______________________________________________ sonnet - originated in Italy.              14 lines, strict rhyme scheme, variety of different types, iambic pen...

Image
i love bob dylan & the velvet underground at the minute sooo much !!!!!!!1 I have liked these for a while, but my love has been reawakened. I love live albums in particular. like this VU one: Also I am in love with this lou reed recording of a poem called 'Lipstick' Watched these Dylan videos: The only problem with when I get obsessed or listen to writers, I feel so jealous and that everything I ever write is rubbish because they just blow me away ! maybe im just impressed to easily. Also found this vid: I knew about the whole crossroads devil faust thing but just wanted to see if there was anything else that it added on or explained more. then went to this as it was mentioned in about video. i found it amazing, listened to the whole thing. I have been into classical music more recently and I think I've just discovered what type of classical music I like as I feel I am drawn to solo piano pieces or guitar. I didn't think I was that intere...

natura mothernature & other magical stuff

the word 'nature' comes from the Latin 'natura' meaning birth & character. 'natura' and the personification of Mother Nature was widely popular in the middle ages. As a concept, seated between the properly divine and the human, it can be traced to Ancient Greece, through Earth (Eorthe in the old english period) may have been personified as a goddess. The Norse also had a goddess called Jord. Roman Epicuran poet Lucretius opens his didactic poem 'De rerum natura' by addressing Venus as a veritable mother of nature Clairoyance (from French 'clair' meaning clear and 'voyance' meaning vision) one who sees clearly

painting techniques

Image
I couldn't stop thinking about a painting technique, about the use of over-painting and seeing underneath,  that I remembered reading in a Basquiat book I have, however I couldn't remember what it was called. Rather than searching through the pages of the book, i decided to first go to google and ended up finding a lot of other techniques. Repoussoir ☆ it is an object along the right or left of the foreground that directs the viewers eye into the composition by bracketing/framing the edge. ☆  it became popular with Mannerist & Baroque artists and is frequently found in Dutch 17th Century landscape paintings. ☆  Jacob Van Ruisdael often included a tree along one side to enclose the scene. mannerism: known as late renaissance. emerged around 1520 and lasted until around the end of the 16th century italy. baroque: is a highly ornate/extravagant style of architecture, art & music that emerged early 17th century til the late 18th century.  The Je...

crisis of meaning & identity

Image
recently been having a bit of a crisis about why i do anything and whats the point etc. So i decided I possibly needed to find some type of philosophy that helped to ground my mind. So, Iwent on to school of life youtube channel and searched  'identity'. 1. First watched this one & i liked the animation aesthetic. Quotes&Notes - is it really right to think of ourselves as the same person? - where is personal identity located? the common idea is our body, but philosophers like to question and challenge this. - Importance of character, john locke. values, inclinations, etc. - if we think who we are is to do w values, loves & hates, technically immortal. live on through species. 2. Quotes&Notes - famous bc he hit a key factor about human nature we are more influenced by feelings than by reason. his key philosophy: - feeling rather than rationality. didn't believe that all feelings are acceptable and equal, so believed in the education ...

an introduction to screenwriting | future learn course

after a university email about future learn, I was reminded of using it during A-levels, and decided to check it out again. I found a course titled 'An Introduction of Screenwriting' which I thought would be useful as I have recently had some ideas for a screenplay, however I had been stuck on how to go about it and how to develop my ideas into narratives and I thought this course could help stimulate ideas/new point of views. It was a helpful as there were points and ideas that gave me a different way of looking at things and helped to push my concepts further along in my head. I was introduced to the concept of the five finger pitch & developing scenes & characters. I think from this point forward I am going to try pay more attention to films and to be more specific the opening.

The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoyevsky

Image
i read this book over 2 months. It took me quite a while as I still sometimes struggle with reading and concentration, which I think has something to do with my head space and mental health at different times. Sometimes, I could read this easily while other times I struggled and I think this was also to do with what was happening in the plot and how interested I was. I felt like this book was one of them books where as you read them, nothing happens, however to have read it and thinking of it after makes it worth the read, if that makes sense? Dostoyevsky is known to write books that are philosophical so they're more to think back over and read into and read over. (note: i just realised that the cover spells his last name incorrectly omg). The Idiot is a classic Russian philosophical novel first published in 1868-69 in a journal called 'The Russian Messenger'. The protagonist called 'Myshkin' is known as 'The Idiot' as his goodness and open-hearted ...

romcom bender and just existing

A couple of weeks ago, I found myself feeling like I wasn't ever doing enough more than I usually do, as well as feeling overwhelmed by everything I wanted to achieve and trying to be super productive. So, i decided to just let everything go and exist. During this time I mainly watched a lot of movies and began this blog. The main 'genre' of film that I binged was Hugh Grant Rom Coms. 1. They were super easy to watch. I didn't need a lot of concentration which I lacked at that time. 2. Hugh Grant was in them It kind of became a game of how low would i sink for hugh grant?? Because, lets be honest, most actors have a not so good side of their filmography... I'm guessing this post is just about me trying to be okay with doing the bare minimum and just living can be productive. I decided to use this time to collect 'fuel' for my mind and creations and also 'bad' movies are sometimes good.

Prints

Image
I made some small pieces of art to be made into prints and I think that some of them say a lot about my style process and what I like, so I decided to put them on here so I can establish that and use it for other things too. These two were both paintings that I scanned in and went over the colours using photoshop. I like the colours used and the style. For the eye piece I like the eyelash effect. With the orange piece I like the body design with the Xs and orange is also a good colour. With these, I like the line/labyrinth lines used. This is something that has carried on from previous projects, like the multi screen I did at the end of 1st year, with inspiration from Keith Haring.  These small features, to me, are things that I want reoccurring in my current work (maybe) as they express certain things in my life at the minute.

Petrichor & Ozone

Image
After a run of hazy and humid summer days, which is unusual for the UK, I began to become restless for rain. Where the fuck has it gone?? where has the water gone? I've checked the weather hoping for raindrops only for the timeline to be filled with big yellow circles. I want it it rain SO BAD. I just KNOW, that it is going to smell So Good. This then had me thinking. I remember reading a while ago that the smell/chemical had a name so I decided to 'google it'. I then read some Cool Stuff so I decided to put it here ! For Future Reference ! <3 From what I have seen, there seem to be 3 factors that can create that 'rain smell'. PETRICHOR When first googling 'rain smell' i first found out about 'Petrichor' which lingers when rain falls after a prolonged dry spell [ x ]. The word is made from the greek 'petra' which means 'stone' and 'ichor' which is the fluid that flows in the veins of Gods in Greek ...

painting; a re-connection

Image
Recently I have been painting a lot more. I've been wanting to do more solid pieces as I have never really done many large pieces and just have sketchbooks and things scattered about. Here are the three pieces I have recently completed: HOLLYWOOD II (2018) i began this towards the end of my first year on some spare cardboard from what i collected when hunting for my box for my experimental short. i think i had this in my head for a while, if i remember correctly, and it was inspired by another painting I did that was based on a poem my friend and i wrote for fun when we were bored in mcdonalds at 1am after a show. The first painting began with the background, as I had a new palette knife (I'd never had one before) and I was experimenting with it and used it often to create backgrounds. I then began painting the houses with inspiration from out my bedroom window. I love how this turned out and I think it was a turning point for my painting style.  I think I ...

a thought about the end of the world (AI, capitalism, & laurie anderson)

thinking a lot about capitalism and the death of it and AI. then watched an interview thing where someone was asked 'how do you think/want the world to end?' started thinking about high rise. capitalism outruns itself and everything goes to shit. will this b a state of being satisfied & fulfilment? will people really go batshit crazy and kill and rape etc? i think people may go crazy at the beginning with trashing shops like any other riot you see on the news but would people calm down and keep to themselves? Kind of relaxes me to think of it this way. also maybe 'o superman' contributes to this thought bc to me its a weirdly sad yet comforting song?? I always imagine laurie anderson as a cyborg on a hill but like a junk hill like at some junk yard and theres nothing left in the world except a giant junk yard and everything is burning but its nice? that's how the song makes me feel.

The Celluloid Closet (1995)

Image
The Celluloid Closet is a documentary made in 1995 that explores the representation of the LGBT (more so the LG side) community in cinema. Although homosexuality wasn't accepted, there are still gay culture and relationships subliminally hidden in films since the very beginning. The documentary takes a very simplistic form, using B roll and interviews to progress from the beginnings of cinema to the present, we see a variaty of people talking about different films from Quentin Crisp to Susan Sarandon. One of the topics the reoccurred throughout was the importance of representation, even if it wasn't positive representation and/or non stereotyped. As a member of the LGBTQ community I feel this. I remember watching Some Like It Hot (1959) and the end scene is something I will love forever because, as a trans person, I am so used to seeing people screaming or freaking out, but just have a scene where the character was okay with it made me feel so happpyyyyyyy. I found t...
